Action Plan for Chess in Capiz

February 11, 2008

Today I attended a workshop on Chess Action Plans which is sponsored by the provincial government of Capiz. The workshop’s objective is to generate action plans for the whole year activities of the province in promoting chess all over Capiz. The following are the top 5 action plans or suggested priority projects to be considered by the Capiz Chess Association, Inc. and the provincial government for the future of chess in Capiz:

1. Ensuring budget for chess projects / tournaments;

2. Regular Chess Competitions / Tournaments;

3. Training for potential chess players;

4. Establishing provincial chess center for training and office of the chess association;

5.  Organize chess clubs and establishing a Capiz chess federation.

These action plans were made during the workshop which was contributed by chess players from Capiz with the support of the government. We were informed that these action plans will be basis for the continous program of the government for making Capiz as center of sports in Western Visayas. Well, I hope this happens!

Capiz an Eco-Cultural Tourism Hub?!

February 8, 2008

I’ve read from News Today Online Edition about Capiz being the Eco-Cultural Tourism Hub of the Central Philippines. Here’s some of the fragments of the news:

Roxas City — "I am so delighted that in just few months, our tourism industry had generated interest and enthusiasm of our major stakeholders, especially the business sector." This was announced by Capiz Gov. Victor Tanco, Sr. during the provincial launching of the National Arts Month last February 4 on the initial gains of the province following a strategic planning workshop which crafted a "Captivating Capiz" vision.

A Tourism Development and Promotion Strategic Planning Workshop was held to plan how to bring about one of our five vision pillars to Capiz as the "Eco-Cultural Tourism Hub" in Central Philippines. Click here to read it from The News Today.

Well what can I say, I’m so delighted! Capiz will be more popular all over the Philippines and all over the world. Capiz might also find it place on the daily news of leading TV Channels in the Philippines  :) . (I’m always watching news on TV but It seems that news from Capiz can’t reach their signals, maybe we’re not that popular. Maybe soon if a Capizeño will win the next Presidential Election, maybe Capiz will be one of headlines on the news hihihi.)

More pictures of Capiz soon guys, I’m quite busy so no pictures for this week!

January 28, 2008

January 27, 2008. Chiltern Gymnastics Club in Iver Heath, England held a gymnastics competition among 5,6,7 and 8-year-old boys and girls from different schools in Beaconsfield High School, Buckinghamshire.

It was participated by all gymnasts of Chiltern Gymnastics Club coming from different schools in South Buckinghamshire.

The competition has two events: the floor event and the vault event.  The floor event occurs on a carpeted square floor where the gymnast perform a choreographed exercise and the vault event is where the gymnast sprint down a 10-meter runway  jump onto a beatboard, a kind of springboard, land momentarily, to a platform in a two-footed landing.

Erika Trisha C. Sicad, a 6 ½-year-old-pupil from Stoke Poges School, Buckinghamshire joined the competition, being one of the gymnasts of Chiltern Gymnastics Club.

She is the eldest daughter of Eric and Maria Theresa Sicad and the sister of Mariska Elyssa C. Sicad of Brgy. Tiza, Roxas City,  Capiz, Philippines. (Trisha, as known at home, is the first granddaughter of Drs. Ernesto and Evelyn Bofill-Sicad).

Erika Trisha C. Sicad is a Filipino, who won the Silver Medal (2nd placer) in the said competition. There were 22 participants in the said competition and Erika has performed the floor event and the vault event with a remarkable score as a beginner with no background of gymnastics but just an interest to learn and enjoying the exercise.

Heart Month of February

January 25, 2008

What’s my plan this coming heart month of February? hmmm… I guess I don’t have any in my mind yet. Well maybe I’ll take my wife for dinner with my son this Valentine’s day. It’s been a while since we have dinner outside.

For the Roxas City, Capiz Blog, well I’m planning to take pictures of the newly reconstructed church of Panay. I’ve seen the great changes made by Msgr. Advincula on the Panay Church when I was travelling to Pontevedra yesterday. One of my acquaintances also told me that even the altar is really amazing. Well I ask her to ask permission from Msgr. Ben Advincula to feature Panay Church to my blog. I hope people will continue support Panay Capiz in their continous effort to restore and reconstruct one of historical site of Capiz, the Panay Church. Well I’ll post it’s pictures later guys! For the meantime, I’ll rest this weekend!
